The investigating judge of the Moroccan court of the first instance decided on Tuesday to temporarily release the historian and human rights activist Maati Monjib, prosecuted in the case of “money laundering”, said his defense to AFP
Lawyer Muhammad Al-Masoudi said the investigating judge decided to grant Monjib a “provisional release, and procedures are underway to get out of prison,” in a decision that comes as Munjib, who has been detained since late last year, is on hunger strike 19 days ago.
On Monday, the French Support Committee for Muti Mneb said it was requesting a transfer to the hospital.
On January 27, the dissident was also sentenced to one year in prison for “fraud” and “endangering state security” in a case of embezzlement in the management of a center he created to promote investigative journalism.
