A Tunisian official has announced that at least 30 African migrants have died in an accident where their boat sank off the country’s coast.
The regional director of civil defense in Sfax, Mourad Al-Mishri, confirmed to “Reuters” today, Friday, that the ill-fated boat had taken off from its shores last night, adding, “So far, the coast guard has recovered 29 bodies, and the search is still underway. ”
These African migrants attempted to cross the Mediterranean and illegally reach the Italian island of Lampedusa, seeking a better life in Europe.
