He explained: “The title of the first cup as captain? It is very special to be captain of the club, and it is a special cup for me.”
Messi added: “We knew that Athletic Bilbao plays this way (4-4-2) very significantly, and we had the patience to possess the ball and play in the spaces.”

He continued, “We moved a lot in the first half, and I think they fell ahead of us in the second half.”
The Barcelona captain added: “The inability to celebrate among our fans is a shame, but this is the situation in which we live, and it’s a shame. Titles are always distinguished and the fans love to enjoy them.”
He continued, “The beginning of the first half of the season has been difficult for us. We lost a lot of points in La Liga, and after that we became very strong and good, and we entered the battle.”
Messi concluded, “Unfortunately, we could not get a good result last week in El Clásico.”
