China has expressed strong opposition to the new sanctions imposed by the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden on Russia.
On Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian called the new U.S. sanctions against Russia “unilateral hegemonic measures opposed by the entire international community.”
The Chinese diplomat expressed Beijing’s hope that Moscow and Washington would be able to overcome their differences, despite the new American punitive measures.
The statements come in the context of the White House’s announcement to impose sanctions on 32 Russian entities and personalities, in addition to five individuals and three companies in Russia’s the Crimean Peninsula.
