Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi confirmed that he wanted to stay at Real Madrid, but the Spanish club finally had to drop him.
Achraf Hakimi won the Italian League title with Inter Milan this season, breaking Juventus’ domination of the Calcio title.
“I stayed home with the family and watched the Atalanta game,” Hakimi said in statements to the Cherngito program.
“I feel completely satisfied after the coronation. The Italian League is a very important tournament for me,” he added.
Zidane did not congratulate me
Spanish newspaper Marca also published part of the Moroccan star’s speech on the Spanish program Cherngito, as he said he did not receive congratulations from his former coach Zinedine Zidane, nor from the club’s president Florentino Perez, for his great success.
Hakimi said he received many messages of congratulations for winning the Italian championship from many friends and relatives, especially since it was the first victory of Inter in this title in 9 years, and at the same time, he expressed his sadness at not having received congratulations from Zidane and Perez.
I reject the accusations of surrender in Madrid
Regarding the decision of Real Madrid not to return and abandon Inter permanently, Hakimi said that he had the advantage of sending me back to play with the royal club’s shirt, but they decided otherwise, and everyone knows that I would have liked to be there.
Asked about his desire to return to Madrid, Hakimi said: They had the opportunity at that time, I have to explain to everyone that people talk and say that I am on condition that I should play in Real Madrid and that’s the reason. why I will not return, but this is not the case, everyone knows that I am at a time. The last we talked about it, I expressed my desire to play there, but circumstances have pushed the club to make another decision, I confirm again that everyone knows that I would have liked to be there and prove myself in the starting lineup.
Hakimi added: People do not know the reality, sometimes I feel annoyed, especially when they blame me because I’m afraid to fight for the center, I was the first to ask if I could play a start in the team because I feel that I am qualified for it.
Injuries do not guarantee a place of choice
And about the lack of confidence in Zidane on him during the recent period with the royal, Hakimi replied: I do not know if the reason was Zidane or the club, I think the circumstances that occurred due to the outbreak of Corona, but in the end, I had to leave.
On a hypothetical question about his chance to play a key role with a large number of injuries in the team of Real Madrid during the current season, Hakimi said: It is not necessary that these circumstances give me the advantage to play, you never know what will but at the same time when I was in Madrid, I played a lot, in my first season because of the injury conditions in the team.
